Obehi Janice: Casanova
September 21, 7 & 9:30PM
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
When an 18th century European art exhibit meets the millennial Black female gaze, critical response turns into a live event. Combining comedy, film, music and movement, Obehi Janice: Casanova explores love, sex, power, beauty and the politics of art. This solo piece from award-winning actress, writer and comedian Obehi Janice delves into Casanova's libertine persona, present-day racial and sexual politics and the humor found in tearing down museum walls. Healing, ecstatic and hilarious, Obehi's latest show proves her place as a master storyteller able to employ risk and vulnerability to truly get to the heart of the matter.
